This Privacy Policy explains how Veil ("the app", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your information. Veil is an 18+ anonymous chat and dating app: you chat behind a mask for a limited time and reveal your identity only if both people choose to. By creating an account you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Account: email address and a password (passwords are handled and secured by Firebase Authentication; we never see them in plain text).
• Phone number: used once to verify your account by SMS and to prevent duplicate/fraudulent accounts. It is stored privately, never shown to other users and never used for marketing.
• Profile: display name, short bio, profile photo(s), gender and date of birth (used to confirm you are 18+ and to show your age), and the languages you speak.
• Preferences: the genders, age range and (optionally) maximum distance you want to match with.
• Content: the messages you send during a match, and the audio of a voice call while it is in progress (calls are never recorded or stored — see Section 3).
• Games: if you play a game inside a chat, we store the invitation, the moves and answers you make, and the game tokens staked on it. Game tokens are an in-app counter with no monetary value; your balance is kept on your account.
• Reports: information you submit when you block or report another user.
• Subscriptions: if you purchase Premium, we record your subscription status and a purchase token provided by Google Play so we can activate your benefits. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play — we never see your card details.

Information collected automatically

• Approximate location: only if you grant location permission. Coordinates are rounded (to roughly 100 m) and used solely for the optional distance filter. You can deny or revoke this at any time.
• Device & usage data: device identifiers, advertising ID, app version, general log/diagnostic data and interactions, used for reliability, safety and ads.
• Notification token: a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can send you match and message notifications.
• Activity status: last-seen / online status to power presence and matching.

The Masked Door — information about visitors, including people with no account

The Masked Door gives you a personal link you can share anywhere. Anyone who opens that link can leave you a short anonymous message, including someone who has never installed Veil and has no account with us. When a message is left we store:

• The message text, so we can deliver it to you and let you reply.
• A one-way hash of the visitor's IP address. The IP is combined with a secret key and hashed; the IP itself is never stored and the hash cannot be turned back into one. It is used for two things only: to limit how many messages one source can send to the same door, so nobody can flood you; and so that if you report a message as abusive, we can tell whether other messages came from the same source. It is never shown to you, and it is not used to identify, profile, track or contact the sender.

Both the link address you choose and the name displayed on it are public: anyone holding the link can see them. Put nothing there you would not show a stranger. You can delete any message you have received, and switching your door off stops new ones.

When you delete your account, your door and every message left at it are deleted. The link address itself stays reserved for six months and the link is closed the whole time — it opens for nobody and accepts no messages. We keep the address reserved so that nobody can claim it and start receiving messages meant for you. All that remains during those six months is the address text and the date it was retired; your account, your name and every message are gone. After six months the address becomes available again.

2. How we use your information

• To create and run your account and profile.
• To find matches for you (based on shared language, gender preference and age; distance only if you enable it).
• To deliver anonymous chat, notifications, calls and in-chat games.
• To run the Masked Door: delivering messages left at your link and limiting abuse of it.
• To keep the community safe: moderation, blocking, reporting and abuse prevention.
• To show ads to users on the free tier (see Section 3).
• To analyze diagnostics and improve reliability.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. Ads and third-party services

Veil is built on Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore, Realtime Database, Storage, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, Cloud Functions) hosted in the European Union region.

The free tier shows rewarded ads via Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and ad-interaction/diagnostic data to serve and measure ads. See Google's Privacy Policy. Premium users do not see ads. We do not sell your personal data.

Consent (EEA, UK and Switzerland): before personalised ads are shown we ask for your consent through Google's certified consent platform. You may refuse, and you can change your choice at any time from Profile → Settings → Privacy options. Refusing does not limit your use of the app.

Voice calls are peer-to-peer. Audio travels directly between the two devices using WebRTC and is never recorded or stored by us. When a direct connection is not possible (restrictive networks), the audio is relayed through Cloudflare's TURN service. The stream stays encrypted end-to-end between the two devices, so the relay forwards it without being able to listen to it, and does not store it (Cloudflare Privacy Policy). Only the technical data needed to establish a call (connection candidates, call state) passes through Firebase.

Calls are also registered with your device's own call system so they behave like ordinary calls — correct audio routing, headset buttons, and proper handling when a real phone call arrives. This happens locally on your device and shares no personal identifier: an app-internal identifier is used, never your phone number.

Payments are handled by Google Play Billing; we receive only the subscription status and purchase token, never your payment details.

We share data only with these service providers (Google/Firebase, AdMob, Cloudflare, Google Play) as needed to run the app, and where required by law.

4. Data retention

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile, photos, messages, games and tokens, and your Masked Door together with every message left at it, are removed (see Section 6). Records needed for legal compliance, security or fraud prevention (e.g. abuse reports) may be retained for a limited period as permitted by law. Google Play keeps its own records of your purchases under its terms.

5. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored on Google's secure infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.

6. Your rights & account deletion

You can access and edit your profile at any time in the app. You can permanently delete your account and its data:

• In the app: Profile → Settings → Delete account.
• By email: write to denela.burcla@gmail.com from your registered email and we will delete your account and data.

7. Children

Veil is strictly for adults 18 years and older. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to use the app or collect their data. If we learn that an under-18 user has registered, we will remove the account.

8. International transfers

Your data is processed on Google/Firebase servers, primarily in the European Union. By using Veil you consent to this processing.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notified in the app.

• İçerik: bir eşleşme sırasında gönderdiğiniz mesajlar ve sesli arama sürerken aktarılan ses (aramalar kaydedilmez, saklanmaz — bkz. Bölüm 3).
• Oyunlar: sohbet içinde oyun oynarsanız daveti, yaptığınız hamleleri ve cevapları, ortaya konan jetonları saklarız. Jeton, parasal karşılığı olmayan uygulama içi bir sayaçtır; bakiyeniz hesabınızda tutulur.
• Şikâyet ve engelleme: başka bir kullanıcıyı engellediğinizde/şikayet ettiğinizde ilettiğiniz bilgiler.
• Abonelikler: Premium satın alırsanız, avantajlarınızı etkinleştirmek için abonelik durumunuzu ve Google Play'in sağladığı satın alma belirtecini kaydederiz. Ödemeler tamamen Google Play tarafından işlenir — kart bilgilerinizi hiç görmeyiz.

Otomatik toplanan bilgiler

• Yaklaşık konum: yalnızca konum izni verirseniz. Koordinatlar yuvarlanır (yaklaşık 100 m) ve sadece isteğe bağlı mesafe filtresi için kullanılır. Dilediğiniz an reddedebilir/iptal edebilirsiniz.
• Cihaz ve kullanım verisi: cihaz tanımlayıcıları, reklam kimliği, uygulama sürümü, genel günlük/tanılama verisi ve etkileşimler; güvenilirlik, güvenlik ve reklamlar için.
• Bildirim belirteci: eşleşme ve mesaj bildirimleri gönderebilmemiz için Firebase Cloud Messaging belirteci.
• Etkinlik durumu: presence ve eşleştirme için son görülme / çevrimiçi durumu.

Maskeli Kapı — hesabı olmayanlar dahil, ziyaretçilere ait bilgiler

Maskeli Kapı size istediğiniz yerde paylaşabileceğiniz kişisel bir bağlantı verir. Bu bağlantıyı açan herkes size kısa, anonim bir mesaj bırakabilir — Veil'i hiç kurmamış, bizde hesabı olmayan biri dahil. Bir mesaj bırakıldığında şunları saklarız:

• Mesajın metni, size iletebilmek ve yanıtlayabilmeniz için.
• Ziyaretçinin IP adresinin tek yönlü özeti. IP, gizli bir anahtarla birleştirilip özetlenir; IP'nin kendisi hiç saklanmaz ve özetten geri elde edilemez. Yalnız iki işe yarar: bir kaynağın aynı kapıya kaç mesaj gönderebileceğini sınırlamak — kimse sizi mesaj yağmuruna tutamasın diye; ve bir mesajı kötüye kullanım diye bildirdiğinizde başka mesajların aynı kaynaktan gelip gelmediğini görebilmek. Size hiç gösterilmez; göndereni tanımlamak, profillemek, izlemek veya kendisine ulaşmak için kullanılmaz.

Seçtiğiniz link adresi de, linkte görünen ad da herkese açıktır: bağlantıyı eline geçiren herkes ikisini de görebilir. Bir yabancıya göstermeyeceğiniz hiçbir şeyi oraya yazmayın. Aldığınız mesajları tek tek silebilirsiniz; kapıyı kapatmanız yeni mesaj gelmesini durdurur.

Hesabınızı sildiğinizde kapınız ve orada bırakılmış her mesaj silinir. Link adresinin kendisi altı ay boyunca rezerve kalır ve bu süre boyunca link kapalıdır — kimseye açılmaz, mesaj kabul etmez. Adresi rezerve tutmamızın sebebi, başkasının onu alıp size gelmesi gereken mesajları toplamasını engellemek. O altı ay boyunca geriye yalnız adresin kendisi ve kapatıldığı tarih kalır; hesabınız, adınız ve bütün mesajlar silinmiştir. Altı ayın sonunda adres yeniden alınabilir hâle gelir.

2. Bilgilerinizi nasıl kullanırız

• Hesabınızı ve profilinizi oluşturmak ve işletmek.
• Size eşleşme bulmak (ortak dil, cinsiyet tercihi ve yaşa göre; mesafe yalnızca siz açarsanız).
• Anonim sohbet, bildirim, arama ve sohbet içi oyunları sunmak.
• Maskeli Kapı'yı işletmek: bağlantınıza bırakılan mesajları iletmek ve kötüye kullanımını sınırlamak.
• Topluluğu güvende tutmak: moderasyon, engelleme, şikayet ve kötüye kullanım önleme.
• Ücretsiz kullanıcılara reklam göstermek (bkz. Bölüm 3).
• Tanılama verilerini analiz edip güvenilirliği artırmak.
• Yasal yükümlülüklere uymak.

3. Reklamlar ve üçüncü taraf hizmetler

Veil, Google Firebase üzerine kuruludur (Authentication, Firestore, Realtime Database, Storage, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config, Cloud Functions) ve Avrupa Birliği bölgesinde barındırılır.

Ücretsiz katman Google AdMob ile ödüllü reklam gösterir. AdMob, reklam sunmak ve ölçmek için cihazınızın reklam kimliğini ve reklam etkileşimi/tanılama verilerini kullanabilir. Bkz. Google Gizlilik Politikası. Premium kullanıcılar reklam görmez. Kişisel verilerinizi satmayız.

Rıza (AEA, Birleşik Krallık ve İsviçre): kişiselleştirilmiş reklam gösterilmeden önce Google'ın sertifikalı rıza platformu üzerinden izninizi isteriz. Reddedebilirsiniz ve tercihinizi dilediğiniz an Profil → Ayarlar → Gizlilik seçenekleri yolundan değiştirebilirsiniz. Reddetmeniz uygulamayı kullanmanızı kısıtlamaz.

Sesli aramalar uçtan uca, cihazdan cihazadır. Ses, WebRTC ile doğrudan iki cihaz arasında akar ve tarafımızca kaydedilmez, saklanmaz. Doğrudan bağlantı kurulamadığında (kısıtlayıcı ağlar), ses Cloudflare'in TURN hizmeti üzerinden aktarılır. Akış iki cihaz arasında uçtan uca şifreli kaldığı için aktarım hizmeti onu dinleyemez, iletir ve saklamaz (Cloudflare Gizlilik Politikası). Firebase üzerinden yalnızca aramayı kurmak için gereken teknik veriler (bağlantı adayları, arama durumu) geçer.

Aramalar ayrıca cihazınızın kendi arama sistemine kaydedilir; böylece normal aramalar gibi davranırlar — ses doğru yönlendirilir, kulaklık tuşları çalışır ve gerçek bir telefon çağrısı geldiğinde durum düzgün yönetilir. Bu işlem cihazınızda yereldir ve hiçbir kişisel tanımlayıcı paylaşmaz: telefon numaranız değil, uygulamaya ait bir tanımlayıcı kullanılır.

Ödemeler Google Play Faturalandırma tarafından yürütülür; biz yalnızca abonelik durumunu ve satın alma belirtecini alırız, ödeme bilgilerinizi asla görmeyiz.

Verileri yalnızca bu hizmet sağlayıcılarla (Google/Firebase, AdMob, Cloudflare, Google Play) — uygulamayı çalıştırmak için gerektiği ölçüde — ve yasaların zorunlu kıldığı hâllerde paylaşırız.

4. Veri saklama

Bilgilerinizi hesabınız etkin olduğu sürece saklarız. Hesabınızı sildiğinizde profiliniz, fotoğraflarınız, mesajlarınız, oyunlarınız ve jetonlarınız, ayrıca Maskeli Kapınız ve orada bırakılmış her mesaj kaldırılır (bkz. Bölüm 6). Yasal yükümlülük, güvenlik veya sahtekârlığı önleme için gereken kayıtlar (örn. kötüye kullanım şikâyetleri) yasaların izin verdiği sınırlı süre boyunca tutulabilir. Google Play, satın almalarınıza ilişkin kendi kayıtlarını kendi koşulları uyarınca tutar.

5. Güvenlik

Veriler şifreli bağlantılarla iletilir ve Google'ın güvenli altyapısında saklanır. Hiçbir yöntem %100 güvenli olmasa da verinizi korumak için makul önlemler alırız.

6. Haklarınız ve hesap silme

Profilinizi uygulama içinde istediğiniz an görüntüleyip düzenleyebilirsiniz. Hesabınızı ve verilerinizi kalıcı olarak silebilirsiniz:

• Uygulamadan: Profil → Ayarlar → Hesabı sil.
• E-posta ile: kayıtlı e-postanızdan denela.burcla@gmail.com adresine yazın, hesabınızı ve verilerinizi silelim.

7. Çocuklar

Veil yalnızca 18 yaş ve üzeri yetişkinler içindir. 18 yaşından küçüklerin uygulamayı kullanmasına bilerek izin vermeyiz ve verilerini toplamayız. 18 yaş altı bir kullanıcı tespit edersek hesabı kaldırırız.

8. Uluslararası aktarım

Verileriniz ağırlıklı olarak Avrupa Birliği'ndeki Google/Firebase sunucularında işlenir. Veil'i kullanarak bu işlemeyi kabul edersiniz.

9. Politikadaki değişiklikler

Bu politikayı zaman zaman güncelleyebiliriz. Önemli değişiklikler yukarıdaki "Son güncelleme" tarihine yansıtılır ve uygun olduğunda uygulama içinde bildirilir.
